Events Management

I have a proven track record, over many years, of organising and managing events and conferences.

In 2009 I organised 4 Safeguarding Seniors Events across Scotland. Aimed at older people, these interactive events using Forum Theatre helped to raise awareness about the Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 (ASP Act). A further event is being held in Glasgow on 3rd June - see side panel.

In 2008, I organised the Saying it Simply Research Event and the launch of the Saying it Simply Report for the Glasgow Good Information Group.

In 2006 and 2007 I organised 4 "Beyond the ..." Seminars for SAIF (Scottish Accessible Information Forum.) These Seminars raised awareness about issues relating to Accessible Information for disabled people. Further information can be found on the SAIF Website

From 1999 until 2007, I played a leading role in the organisation of Ability Fest. These one day events enable disabled people to access information about learning, education, training, volunteering and employment opportunities in Glasgow and surrounding areas. Ability Fest brings together agencies that provide specialist support and those, such as colleges, universities and learning centres, that take an inclusive approach to the provision of lifelong learning opportunities.

In 2004, as co-ordinator of the Greater Glasgow Network of Supported Employment (GGNSE), I was involved in the planning and organisation of the People with Potential Conference. This conference was aimed at raising awareness among employers about the benefits to their businesses of employing a diverse work force. It was attended by over 100 delegates, including 69 employers.
