It makes good business sense to try and ensure that your company information is read and understood by all your customers, potential customers and staff.

There are many reasons some people are unable to access information in conventional ways
  • a visually impaired person might need Braille or large print
  • a person with learning difficulties might need a shorter version of a document with pictures
  • someone else might need information in another language such as British Sign Language, Urdu or Polish

Even people without specific information needs are more likely to read your information if it has been designed using Scottish Accessible Information Forum (SAIF) Guidelines for Producing accessible documents.

SAIF training courses will give you the building blocks to start embedding accessible information practice in your organisation to ensure
  • you include people with specific information needs in your pool of customers
  • you cater for the needs of staff with specific information needs
  • you meet the legal requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act
  • your document design and layout enables all stakeholders access to your information
